Fall Foliage Ceremony

Fall is a gorgeous time to host weddings here at Schlitz Audubon. Guests will enjoy a backdrop of colorful autumn leaves with views of Lake Michigan peeking through the trees. Should the weather get a bit chilly during your fall wedding, we have indoor ceremony options and a wood burning fireplace to welcome guests inside for cocktail hour. Lake Michigan keeps our temperature warmer later into the autumn season, and our wooded areas, shoreline, Mystery Lake, and prairie offer an array of scenic photography locations full of fall flare!

McKenna and Jacob started their afternoon by getting ready in our two onsite dressing rooms. After finishing touches, the duo ventured outside to an intimate woodland setting, sharing their private vows amongst the trees. The couple made sure to visit some of our top photo locations, including the beach and the boardwalks of Mystery Lake, to immortalize their special day.

At the Pavilion, McKenna and Jacob chose to face West, making the limestone crescent and trees their backdrop. They decorated our fallen ash arch with red florals and draped terracotta tulle across the chairs, tying in the colors of the changing leaves. Cocktail hour was held on the Veranda, where guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers under the soft glow of café string lights. Inside, tables were decorated with greenery, orange florals, floating candles, and vermillion napkins. The warm tones complemented the natural wood elements of the building and created a romantic and inviting atmosphere. A grand march from the wedding party led into a buffet dinner, and the rest of the evening was spent snapping pictures at the photobooth and tearing up the dance floor!
