Seminar: Prairies and the Birds Who Love Them
Adults, Birding Academy, Guided Hikes
Fall is a busy time in Wisconsin’s native grasslands. Uncover the secrets of our prairies, including how they came to be, who calls them home, and why their conservation is so important for birds. This seminar will begin with a presentation on Wisconsin’s native grasslands, the different bird species that can be found there, and the adaptations that help them thrive. Then, we’ll set out on a hike through The Center’s prairies to apply what we’ve learned.
This seminar is led by Environmental Educator Laine Cotteleer. Laine is an instructor of the Birding Academy and a lifelong birder who continues to hone her craft and skill with each program she teaches.
This seminar will take place both indoors and outdoors. Bring a pair of binoculars, or you can borrow a pair from the Center. In the case of inclement weather, this class will take place entirely indoors.
