Seminar: Connections Between Humans and Birds
Adults, Birding Academy, Guided Hikes
From companionship to culture to ecological imbalance, the relationship between humans and birds is woven together throughout our history. Societies have incorporated bird species into utilitarian tasks, scientific and artistic inspiration, cultural symbolism, and conservation. Through classroom presentation and a guided hike, discover how humans have shaped the bird world and vice-versa. During this seminar we will also discuss the origin stories of invasive species and how humans have shaped the behaviors and niches of some of our most common birds.
Environmental Educator Aubrey Fulsaas is your instructor for this program. Her collegiate studies focused on Behavioral Ecology and Animal Behavior. She is a Wisconsin Master Naturalist Instructor, a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, and above all, a passionate birder.
This seminar will take place both indoors and outdoors. Bring a pair of binoculars, or you can borrow a pair from the Center. In the case of inclement weather, this class will take place entirely indoors.
