Nesting Types and Strategies Seminar
Adults, Birding Academy, Guided Hikes
As spring migration comes to a close in Wisconsin, our summer resident birds are settling in to start laying eggs and raising offspring. Depending on their needs, some birds will opt out of building a nest while others have nests that vary in size, shape, and materials. During this seminar, we will hike around the property in search of different nest types and the breeding birds that call them home. As the sun sets, we will go inside for a presentation to discuss why and how each nest type suits the different species that use it.
This seminar is led by Environmental Educator Laine Cotteleer. She loves to share her passion for Wisconsin’s native flora and fauna with people of all ages. As a lifelong birder, she continues to hone her craft and skill with each program she teaches.
This seminar will take place both indoors and outdoors. Bring a pair of binoculars, or you can borrow a pair from the Center. We will meet inside the building by the windows looking out to the Feeder Grove Observation Area.
