Insect Pinning Workshop: Butterflies

Immerse yourself in the world of insects by blending art and science during this hands-on, beginner-friendly insect preservation workshop. Through a presentation, learn about different species of Wisconsin butterflies and their ecology. Afterwards, create a shadow box display with a preserved butterfly, By the end of the workshop, you will have the skills and techniques to complete a fully taxidermized butterfly, as well as a handout to continue this craft at home.

Environmental Educators Melanie Ziolecki and Alison Schrad are leading this workshop. They have participated in professional entomology preservation classes and have successfully led insect preservation activities for young summer campers.

This program will take place entirely indoors. All materials will be provided.
