Hiking the Ice Age Trail: Northern Kettle Moraine Field Trip
Adults, Field Trips, Guided Hikes
Wednesday, November 11 | 10:00a-2:00p
The Northern Kettle Moraine is renowned for its scenic beauty and impressive geologic features. We will traverse picturesque Dundee Mountain, the highest glacial kame in the region, and also a portion of the undulating Greenbush Trails segment. These are perfect examples of the landforms left behind over 10,000 years ago that are studied around the world today.
Encounter a variety of habitats along the way and learn about the natural history of the region as well as ancient geology. Participants will be rewarded with fresh, clean air and stunning vistas. We’ll eat lunch at the picnic grounds near Long Lake.
This field trip is led by Director of Education Tom Finley. He is an avid explorer, birder, and geologic history enthusiast, and has been leading field trips for 25 years.
The field trip begins and ends at the Northern Kettle Moraine. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to and from the park. A vehicle admission sticker or day-pass is required. Basic restrooms are on-site. Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and water. Participants should be in good cardiovascular health. Further details and specific directions will be emailed to registered participants the week prior to the trip.
Members: $50 | Non-Members: $65
