Guided Bird Hike: Late Fall Migrants
The fall migratory season is winding down, but not all of our summer residents are out the door just yet! Join Schlitz Audubon to discover our late fall migrants and discuss why they might be sticking around.
This field experience is ideal for beginning and seasoned birders alike. Build your skillset by learning how to locate and identify birds from our trails; we will focus on identification characteristics such as size, shape, color, pattern, behavior, song, and habitat preference. There will also be plenty of time to practice looking and listening for birds to get a better view without disturbing them.
This outdoor hike is led by Director of Education and experienced birder Tom Finley. He is an avid explorer, birder, and nature enthusiast, and has been teaching at the Center for over 25 years.
Bring your binoculars, favorite field guide or app, and we will meet in the Great Hall. This program will take place entirely outdoors. In the case of inclement weather, a portion of the program will take place indoors.
