Certificate: Migration Flyways of the United States
Adults, Birding Academy, Guided Hikes
Saturdays, August 1 & August 8
The skies are filled with birds once again as they begin their journey south for the winter. In this two-part certificate program, discover the main migratory corridors and how birds use them to navigate the continent. We’ll begin indoors with a presentation showcasing the different pathways and which species utilize each one. Focusing on these specific birds, we’ll learn what they require in their migratory journey. By the end, participants will know the key differences between these flyways, some of the stand-out species, and the adaptations that help them navigate.
August 1: Eastern and Mississippi Flyways
August 8: Central and Western Flyways
This certificate is led by Environmental Educator Laine Cotteleer. Laine is an instructor of the Birding Academy and a lifelong birder as she continues to hone her craft and skill with each program she teaches.
