A habitat’s food web relies on every animal and plant – including predatory species. Students learn about this misunderstood group of animals and begin to see the important role predators play in a healthy and sustainable ecosystem. How can we determine what an animal eats based on its teeth? How do predators and prey blend into their surroundings? Through observing a live predatory reptile, students gain insight into how predators hunt and survive. Students are then led on a hike by a Naturalist to observe evidence of native Wisconsin herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
