Insects
Uncover fascinating insects and their relatives at Schlitz Audubon. Start with an introduction about taxonomy and where insects fit within the animal kingdom. Then visit the variety of habitats at the Center and search for the arthropods that are living there. This includes sweep netting in the prairie, scooping creatures in the ponds, and flipping logs in the forest. Compare the adaptations of the creatures your class finds and identify their role in the ecosystem. With these hands-on activities, students learn about environmental concepts like biodiversity, food webs, and ecological niches.
