Insects and Their Relatives
An amazing 80% of the animals on earth are insects and their relatives. This program guides students on an exploration of various habitats around Schlitz Audubon, searching for these fascinating creatures. Students roll over logs in the forest to unearth soil critters, sweep with insect nets in the prairie, and strain for pond creatures at Mystery Lake. While in each habitat, classes learn how to properly handle and care for the animals that they collect, as well as how to classify insects into major categories.
