Cedarburg Bog and Forest
The Cedarburg Bog State Natural Area is one of the largest and most diverse wetlands in Southern Wisconsin, supporting an array of unusual plants and animals. Cedar-tamarack and hardwood swamps, deep and shallow marshes, several bog lakes, and a patterned peatland or “string bog” make this area unique. Students enter the heart of this vast northern wetland using an extensive system of boardwalks. In the afternoon, we explore the woods, one of the finest mature beech-maple forests remaining in southeastern Wisconsin.
