Experience Schlitz Audubon’s wetlands from a unique perspective! Students learn fundamental canoeing skills including entering and exiting the canoe, paddling with basic strokes, and how to properly use the equipment. As students practice canoeing, they explore Mystery Lake up-close, where frogs, turtles, and water birds make their homes. Canoeing 101 is a great opportunity for students to develop effective teamwork and communication skills while having fun on the water. This program is suitable for students at all levels of canoeing ability.

This program can be done on its own, or as a prerequisite to a Wetlands by Canoe or Milwaukee River Canoe Program. Middle school groups are required to complete this program prior to an off-site canoe trip, and it is strongly recommended for high school groups depending on students’ experience.

Length: 2 hours
Fee: $8 per student
Minimum fee: $150
Number of student limit: 25
