Winter Ecology Workshop
Wednesdays, January 14, 21, & 28
While winter landscapes are beautiful and serene, Wisconsin’s coldest season poses unique challenges for our resident wildlife. Join us during this three-part ecology workshop exploring winter at Schlitz Audubon, featuring a different theme and habitat each day. We’ll hike the trails to showcase different aspects of winter ecology as well as explore animal and plant survival strategies during this time of scarcity in the natural world. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy some hot chocolate by the fireplace in the Great Hall.
Workshop Themes:
January 14 – Mammal Ecology & Forests
January 21 – Pond Ecology & Mystery Lake
January 28 – Winter Birding & Lake Michigan
This workshop is led by Director of Education Tom Finley. He has been teaching about Wisconsin ecology, and what happens during the winter season, for 24 years.
This program will take place both indoors and outdoors. Please come prepared by dressing in layers. Ice cleats, walking poles, and Yak Trax are helpful.
