Seminar: Winter Residents of Wisconsin
Adults, Birding Academy, Raptors, Wheelchair Accessible
Wednesday, December 9 | 6:00p-8:00p
With Wisconsin’s summer migratory birds gone for the season, our winter residents are here to stay; each employs a variety of adaptations to survive harsh winters. Meet our Great Horned Owl, Zari, up close to learn about some of the earliest nesting raptors, discover how songbirds as small as the Black-capped Chickadee survive subzero temperatures, and dive further into the strategies and adaptations utilized by some of Wisconsin’s hardiest species.
This seminar is led by Raptor Educator Cheyenne Smith and Environmental Educator Laine Cotteleer. Cheyenne is a lifelong birder with nearly a decade of experience in environmental education and avian fieldwork. Laine is an instructor of the Birding Academy and a lifelong birder who continues to hone her craft and skill with each program she teaches.
This seminar will take place entirely indoors.
Members: $24 | Non-members: $34
