Guided Bird Hike: Fruit Foragers
Fruits are an important food source for many Wisconsin birds, especially those that are preparing for their fall migration. The Center’s diverse habitats located along the Lake Michigan shoreline provide a bountiful stop-over site and unique birding hotspot to find many of these fruit foragers.
This field experience is ideal for beginning and seasoned birders alike. Build your skillset by learning how to locate and identify birds from our trails; we will focus on identification characteristics such as size, shape, color, pattern, behavior, song, and habitat preference. There will also be plenty of time to practice looking and listening for birds to get a better view without disturbing them.
This hike is led by Environmental Educator and experienced birder Cassie Rincon. She is an ecology enthusiast with a passion for Wisconsin plants and animals and has been birding for over 15 years.
Bring your binoculars, favorite field guide or app, and we will meet in the Great Hall. This program will take place entirely outdoors. In the case of inclement weather, a portion of the program will take place indoors.
