Forest Exploration Center Field Trip
Adults, Field Trips, Guided Hikes
Join us on this late autumn morning to enjoy a hidden gem of the state-owned lands – the Forest Exploration Center (FEC) in Wauwatosa. Acquired by the Wisconsin DNR division of Forestry from Milwaukee County in 2009, this 67-acre mature hardwood forest has a one-mile accessible loop trail with additional spurs to a prairie, pond, and former nursery. Reforestation plantings and excellent trail signage help show and tell the story of how this land is being restored, maintained, and preserved.
Your guide will be Director of Education Tom Finley, who will be joined by a member of the Board from the FEC to help us learn the history and future conservation goals of the property. Schlitz Audubon donates a portion of the program fees to the Forest Exploration Center to assist in their conservation efforts.
