Humans have used simple machines for thousands of years to do their jobs better, quicker, and easier. Students learn what work is, how to measure work, and the six types of simple machines: inclined planes, wedges, screws, levers, wheels and axles, and pulleys. Examples of each type of simple machine are shown and demonstrated with the help of student volunteers. Students also learn how to identify and list simple machines that we use in everyday life.
