Summer Tree ID Workshop

Saturday, July 13, 2024 | 9:00 am - 11:00 am

$50.00 – $66.00

,

This is a two-day workshop: Saturdays July 13 and July 20

Join Naturalist Jim Thielke for a two-part summer tree identification workshop. Learning how to identify trees is an important skill to help determine the health of a forest. In this workshop, we’ll learn how to use leaves, bark, fruits, flowers, the form or overall shape of the tree, and its habitat to identify some of the Center’s tree species, including ashes, maple, oaks, birches, pines, and more. We’ll discuss adaptations and ecological significance of each tree species, how trees interact with wildlife and each other, and which species contribute the most to the habitat around them. You’ll receive custom materials to help identify trees so you can continue using your new skills at home. This class will take place on the trails regardless of weather conditions.

Members: $50 | Non-members: $66
