Literary Hike: The Works of Robin Wall Kimmerer
This guided hike will follow the pages of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s works. As a botanist, Robin Wall Kimmerer has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. Participants will listen to curated passages from the books Braiding Sweetgrass, Gathering Moss, and The Service Berry. We will explore Schlitz Audubon through the words of Kimmerer, experiencing natural phenomenon while listening to corresponding excerpts read aloud.
This program is led by Environmental Educator and Certified Forest Therapy Guide Aubrey Fulsaas. She first developed the Literary Hike programming at Schlitz Audubon. Aubrey encompasses her passion for ecology with her skill of public speaking to create programming that honors the original authors and enhances peoples’ understanding of the natural world.
Copies of the books will be available in our Nature Store to purchase, but are not required. This program will take place entirely outdoors.
