Introduction to Nature Journaling
Nature Journaling is the practice of using drawings, words, and numbers to collect and record your nature observations, questions, and explanations in a notebook. It’s a way to slow down, awaken your curiosity, and marvel at the beauty found in nature.
This program will introduce you to the basics of nature journaling, including what tools you need as well as how to use words, pictures, and numbers to record information. We’ll also discuss which questions can prompt your journal entries, then hike the various habitats of the Center to put what you learned into practice. No prior experience needed — all are welcome to start your journaling experience with us!
Your guide is Environmental Educator and artist Shelly Rollins. She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and has led many programs focused on sketching outdoors.
This program will take place both indoors and outdoors. Participants should bring a sketchbook or unlined notebook and some materials for drawing and writing. Rulers, measuring tapes, and binoculars would be helpful, but not required.
Members: $24 | Non-members: $34
