Sunday, May 5, 2024 | 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$23.00 – $30.00

Birds may present themselves in almost any environment and discovering them through a camera lens can be an exhilarating experience! In this program, experienced photographer and naturalist Jake Collison will show you how to get started with photographing the birds seen from our trails. You will gain insight on photography techniques and develop skills to seek out birds in your own neighborhood.

We’ll begin inside with a presentation on the basics of how a digital camera functions, understanding lighting, the rule of thirds and composition. Best practices in ethical bird photography will also be covered. After learning these principles, you will have a chance to practice your skills in the field during peak spring migration. We will hike the trails in search of colorful birds such as warblers, tanagers, buntings, and grosbeaks. Bring your own cameras and equipment or use our binoculars. We will meet inside the Great Hall.

Members: $20 | Non-members: $30
