Harrington Beach State Park Field Trip
Adults, Field Trips, Guided Hikes
Harrington Beach State Park, located in Belgium, Wisconsin, is a beautiful gem along Lake Michigan. Showcasing a 26-acre quarry lake and over one mile of shoreline, it’s a scenic spot for people looking to enjoy the summer sun. It also has a unique history as a former small community of quarry workers from 1900-1925.
Visit the lakeshore to observe rare Devonian Period rocks which are only found in a few other Wisconsin locales. We’ll hike the one-mile path around the quarry lake and traverse the upland fields along the picturesque bluebird trail. Expect to hike three miles over gently undulating terrain.
This field trip is led by Director of Education Tom Finley. He is an avid explorer, birder, and geologic history enthusiast, and has been leading field trips for 25 years.
The field trip begins and ends at the Harrington Beach State Park. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to and from the park. A vehicle admission sticker or day-pass is required. Basic restrooms are on-site. Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and water. Participants should be in good cardiovascular health. Further details and specific directions will be emailed to registered participants the week prior to the trip.
