Guided Bird Hike: Early Spring Migrants
Adults, Birding Academy, Guided Hikes
March can be an exciting time for birding at the Center. We are fortunate to have many birds who remain throughout the year, plus some interesting early migrants returning from their winter homes in the south. Year-round birds we may see include Nuthatches, Cardinals, Blue Jays and Chickadees. Early spring migrants include Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Eastern Bluebirds, and American Robins. We’ll traverse the bluffs and Green Tree Loop in hopes of locating these and other species.
This interactive field experience will help you build your skillset and provides an opportunity to ask questions. This program is ideal for those new to birding and experienced birders interested in learning about the birds found on our grounds. Bring your binoculars or camera as well as your favorite field guide or app.
We will meet in the Great Hall and visit our Feeder Grove Observation area before heading out on the trails. Your guide is Director of Education Tom Finley, an enthusiastic and experienced birder and naturalist.
