Bird Club
Wednesday, April 10, 2024 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeAdults, Birding, Clubs, Free with Membership, Guided Hikes
Join a welcoming community of bird enthusiasts on the second Wednesday of the month. New and experienced birders will meet to learn together, discuss bird-related issues, and hike to discover birds on our trails. Our co-host is Dan Panetti, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Mequon.
This month, Dan and naturalist Laine Cotteleer will take you on a hike to search for American Woodcocks. Dusk is the best time to witness the male’s spectacular springtime aerial displays. We’ll traverse the prairie’s grassy hotspots to locate these elusive masters of camouflage. Few other birds in our region have such a unique and multi-faceted display. Anyone aged 14 and older who is interested in learning more about birds regardless of prior experience is welcome. You will learn and enhance your identification skills from experienced birders.
We will meet in front of the Visitor Center to begin our walk by the bird feeders.
Free to all. Optional donation supports habitat preservation at the Center. Registration required.
