Become a Citizen Scientist: Great Backyard Bird Count
Adults, Birding Academy, Free with Membership
More than 50 million people consider themselves avid bird watchers and enthusiasts in the United States. This virtual program, via Zoom, will help prepare attendees for the Great Backyard Bird Count, an international bird observation program that takes place February 13 – 16. Over 800,000 citizen scientists participated last year alone and sighted 8,000 bird species across the globe! You’ll learn the history of the Bird Count, its importance, and how you can participate. A cooperative venture spearheaded by the Cornell Lab, the National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada, this event is entering its 28th year. We’ll share images of local birds to help you identify some expected species in our area and discuss techniques to encourage backyard bird visitors. There will also be time for Q&A.
Free to all. Registration required.
A link to the Zoom program will be sent to all who register two days prior.
