General Information

  • To book a program fill out the Scout Program Form.
  • Program pricing is quoted per program below. Adults are FREE! Center admission is FREE!
  • Programs can be scheduled 7 days a week, on evenings and weekends.
  • Participants cancelling 14 days or more before a program will receive a refund. No refund will be issued if canceled less than 14 days prior to the scheduled event. Upon Schlitz Audubon cancellation a refund will be given.

Tiger Cub Programs

Duration: 1 1/2 hours

Tigers in the Wild
What do you need to survive in the wild? Learn about the six essential items every Tiger Scout needs to make it in the wilderness. Take a short hike to view plants and animals and end the hike with a roaring campfire and special s’mores snack!

Sky is the Limit
Did you know that there are over 300 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy? Discover what it means to be an astronomer while viewing stars through telescopes and binoculars. Create your own constellation project to take home. Telescope viewing is weather dependent and will be substituted with an indoor alternative if necessary.

Paws on the Path
Thousands of animals and plants call Wisconsin home. Learn about the clues these organisms leave behind then search for these clues while taking a one-mile hike on Schlitz Audubon Nature Center grounds.

Digging up the Past
There were dinosaurs at Schlitz Audubon? You bet! Long ago Wisconsin was a shallow saltwater sea known as the Silurian Sea. We will search for fossils of Wisconsin’s ancient residents. Scouts will also participate in our own dino-dig, and finish off with a fossil-themed snack!

Bear Cub Programs

Fur, Feathers, and Ferns
From tracks and scat to seed shells and chewed bark, signs of animals are all around. Venture the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center grounds on a one mile hike to search for evidence of animals. Learn how to make your own backyard a habitat for animals.

Salmon Run
Boating and water safety is something every scout should know, so come to Schlitz Audubon for hands-on experience canoeing in Mystery Lake! Scouts will learn proper canoe etiquette, the safety equipment every paddlers should have on the water, as well as paddle skills and strokes.

Pricing: $25/scout (adults are free) Limit of 25 participants

WEBELO’S Programs

Into the Wild
Over 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered in water. Explore the ponds and waterways of the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center on a nature hike. Learn safe ways to collect and release small organisms, and piece together an aquatic food chain by catching, observing and identifying pond critters.

Into the Woods
Trees are an essential part of the forest ecosystem. Explore the forests of the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Scouts will learn how to identify common Wisconsin trees, plants and shrubs while roaming the various ecosystems at the Audubon.

Eagle Scout Projects

General Scouting Programs

Camp Together Overnight
Pricing: $40.00 per scout, $10.00 per adult (troop leaders are free!)
Minimum Fee: $400.00
Experience Schlitz Audubon like never before by staying overnight! Put your senses to the test on a night hike to see if you have what it takes to be a nocturnal animal. Then, gather around the campfire to make s’mores! A continental breakfast is offered in the morning. Available November-March. No longer booking for the 2017/2018 winter season.

Owl Prowl
Duration: 1 1/2 hours
Pricing: Please Contact the Registrar for pricing for your group
Attendance: 50 maximum
Hike with us deep into the forest while hunting for owls. Sound is the best way to identify owls- put on your big deer ears and prepare to hear and see some of our local residents. This program provides the natural history knowledge and necessary activities to complete your badge requirements. Includes a guided hike, owl artifacts, and guaranteed live owls!

Reptiles & Amphibians
Duration: 1 hour
Pricing: $200.00
Attendance: 90 maximum
Whether they slither, hop, jump, swim, or crawl, Wisconsin’s reptiles and amphibians are sure to fascinate your group. See them up close and learn about what makes each of them unique in this intriguing program!

Owls: Designed for Darkness
Duration: 1 hour
Pricing: $325.00
Attendance: 90 maximum
These seldom seen, silent winged hunters shine best when the sun goes down. Our feathered raptor staff model their special night hunting adaptations and some basic owl behaviors providing insights into their natural history. Wisconsin is home to a variety of native owls, each with its own special adaptations. Our resident owls will engage your audience as they see firsthand the power of these amazing birds. Pellet dissection also offered for an enhanced learning experience!

Beaks and Talons
Duration: 1 hour

Attendance: 90 maximum
Which bird is the fastest? Which has silent flight? Join us for an interactive comparison of falcons, hawks, and owls. This is an engaging and informative experience for all ages!

Eagle and Friends
Duration: 1 hour
Pricing: $350.00
Attendance: 90 maximum
With awesome power, spectacular strength, a huge wingspan, and massive talons, this “king of the wind” is the very essence of a raptor. Be amazed as a bald eagle headlines this presentation, accompanied by hawks, owls, and falcons.
