Winter Sensory
Winter brings many changes to plants and animals in the wild. Students gain an appreciation of the wonder of winter by using their senses. They begin inside with a special seasonal song and story, Owl Moon by Jane Yolen, followed by a visit with a live owl from our Raptor Program. Students explore the outdoors as they look for the subtle colors of winter. They observe winter flowers and learn which animals change their coats to blend in with their environments. Students use their senses to learn about the winter landscape and experience temperatures in various habitats.
