The Center’s many ephemeral and permanent ponds, as well as the wetlands that surround them, offer students the opportunity to see an abundance of aquatic wildlife. Students peer into the exciting, private lives of the creatures that live in, around, and under the water world. Concepts learned include the ecological importance of ponds, how to recognize an amphibian, and the identification of aquatic insects and their relatives. After exploring the ponds, students get a closer inspection of some of the wildlife that they found as part of a “creature feature.”
