Maple Sugar Time!
Celebrate the sweetest season at Schlitz Audubon, Maple Sugar Time! Students travel through the stages of making syrup, from tapping trees to boiling sap. We begin with a story of how maple syrup was first discovered, followed by a movie about the magic of maple syrup. Students learn about how trees make sugar through photosynthesis and why spring in Wisconsin is such a special time and place for maple syrup. Then, students venture outside to visit maple trees and wake up the sleepy Sugar Farmer at our evaporator. We top it all off with real syrup over pancakes and a maple syrup challenge!
