$200.00 – $240.00Make beautiful and functional art for your home and wardrobe while you connect with an ancient form of fabric creation: weaving. In this class, you will learn continuous strand weaving on a frame loom. You will discover all the necessary steps to weave a shawl on a triangle loom using traditional techniques as well as a no-sew technique adapted by the instructor. During class, we will weave a six-panel shawl on a mini triangle loom, giving you the introductory skills and know-how to weave larger projects on larger looms. The instructor will share additional ways to use the loom to make scarves, placemats, table runners, and even blankets.
Julia Kathleen Bizub is a textile and fiber artist who owns a family art and crafts business, MoonBound ArtisanShip. She studied archaeology in college and often incorporates her love of history and historical techniques into her work. She dyes fiber and yarn, spins, weaves, knits, crochets, paints, and makes her own paints from nature.
This program will take place entirely indoors. Participants will receive a loom, wooden combs and needles, a crochet hook, and yarn. Participants should bring a notebook, something to write with, a pair of scissors, and optionally any additional yarn that you would want to work with.
