Introduction to Birdsong

Sunday, May 19, 2024 | 9:00 am - 11:00 am

$23.00 – $30.00

, ,

Spring brings an abundance of bird activity to the Center. Winter birds depart and summer residents return, filling the skies, forests, and fields with songs. Birds also have their own special calls which can help us to locate them. Learning how to listen to these sounds is one of the best ways to identify birds.

In this workshop, you will participate in a presentation designed to help you recognize some of Wisconsin’s common and unique birdsongs. You will then journey on a guided hike to practice your skills in the field! Naturalists and avid birders Laine Cotteleer and Jake Collison will share their own tips, tricks, and pneumonic devices to help you identify spring birds. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to identify the songs of many backyard bird species and some migrants.

Members: $23 | Non-members: $30
