Grant Park Field Trip
Wednesday, July 24, 2024 | 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
$50.00 – $65.00Adults, Birding, Field Trips, Guided Hikes
We’ll hike picturesque Grant Park, which features unique Lannon stone paths and staircases, as well as foot bridges that will take us over the park’s many ravines. Oak Creek (the actual creek) flows right through the middle of the park before it empties into the bay at the South Milwaukee Yacht Club.
During our visit, we’ll witness summer birds, shorebirds along Lake Michigan, and species that call the beautiful high bluffs home throughout the year. Besides the intact forests, the park’s 381 acres include vast and popular expanses of beach shoreline. You’ll come away with a better understanding of local animal and bird life, the importance of the shoreline forested bluff ecosystem and hone your identification skills.
Your guides for the day will be Director of Education Tom Finley and Adult Program Coordinator Michelle Allison. Both are avid birders, rockhounds, and enjoyers of our state’s natural areas. They have led many a trip for the Center over years and look forward to sharing a delightful day with you.
This field trip begins and ends at Grant Park. You will need to provide your own transportation to and from the park and to the various locations during the trip. Please bring your own lunch/snacks. Further details and meeting location will be emailed to registered participants one week prior to the trip. No additional entrance fees are required.
