MONDAY, JULY 31 – THURSDAY, AUGUST 3
#30 Sensory Explorations | 12:45pm – 3:15pm
Fully engage your senses as we discover the sights, sounds, textures and scents of nature. Explore how animals use their sense of smell to navigate and find food, listen to the wind and waves at Lake Michigan, use magnification to see creatures up close, and touch slippery frogs and soft, satiny leaves. Learn more about your senses and how animals use theirs as we immerse ourselves in the natural world.
MONDAY, JULY 10 – FRIDAY, JULY 14
#64 Creatures of the Night | 9:00am – 12:00pm
Do you enjoy the sounds of nature at night? Then get ready to howl like a wolf, croak like a frog, and chirp like a bat. Our mission is to find signs of nocturnal animals. Along the way we will dissect owl pellets, dig in the dirt to find insects, and uncover just why skunks smell so awful. Meet some cool animals like salamanders, snakes, and even a tarantula. Although this camp is in the daytime, animals leave plenty of evidence of their nighttime activities for us to discover.
MONDAY, JUNE 26 – FRIDAY, JUNE 30
#76 Animal Builders | 9:00am – 12:00pm
Become an expert in animal architecture as we study their homes, including nests, webs, dens, and more! Campers will explore habitats and adaptations of various animals to discover how and why they construct their homes the way they do. Along with studying the animals that make their home at Schlitz Audubon, campers will practice their engineering skills by attempting to recreate some of these amazing structures.
