Herpetology for All
Whether they slither, hop, jump, swim, or crawl, there are many different types of reptiles and amphibians in Wisconsin. In this video, meet some of our live animal ambassadors. Discover the adaptations of many of our ectothermic creatures, including special scales over a snake’s eyes, toads’ parotid glands, and how studying a turtle’s plastron can help us determine if they snap or hide. Enjoy watching videos of these animals’ behaviors that aren’t often seen while viewing them in real life. Utilize the provided dichotomous key in your own outdoor spaces and try to identify any frogs you find.
