Below Our Feet: Rocks and Soil
Underneath our feet is a slow and long process of changing rocks and soil. Learn about the rock cycle and how it is a never-ending process. Discover the difference between intrusive cooling and extrusive cooling, various forms of sediments, and what it takes to morph rocks. By using rocks that can be found on the beach of Lake Michigan, your group can start to become geologists. Then we’ll dig into the soil to find out what makes it an important source for people, plants, and animals. Utilize the included scavenger hunt in your own outdoor spaces and try to find the rocks and soil ingredients.
