Fridays, January 8 & 15
In this two-session workshop we’ll learn to identify deciduous trees without their leaves. When you learn to identify trees in the winter, it becomes that much easier to know what you’re looking at during the growing season. We’ll take a close look at the bark pattern and textures, the buds and twigs, and the overall form of the tree to help us better understand each species. We’ll discuss each tree’s role in the ecosystem, what kind of food and habitat they provide for the animals around them. You’ll also receive custom materials to help you continue practicing on your own either here at the Center or in your own backyard!
This program will take place entirely outdoors. We will practice social distancing when we are able to, but because of the nature of small-group programming, it will not always be possible. For the health and safety of all, participants must wear a mask when you are within six feet of others. Please do not attend if you are sick or believe you have been exposed to the virus.
