Winter Ecology Series
Wednesday, January 11, 2023 | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
$60.00 – $75.00Wednesdays, January 11, 18 & 25
Join Director of Education Tom Finley for a three-part winter ecology series exploring the beauty of winter at Schlitz Audubon. On each date, we’ll focus on a new topic and visit a different habitat. They will all showcase aspects of winter ecology, as well as explore some of the many characteristics of animal and plant survival during this time of scarcity in the natural world. A winter landscape can be both a beautiful and harsh environment, worthy of our respect and understanding.
- January 11 – Mammal ecology & forests
- January 18 – Pond ecology & Mystery Lake
- January 25 – Winter birding & Lake Michigan
This program will take place both indoors and outdoors. Please come prepared by dressing in layers. Ice cleats, walking poles, and ice cleats are helpful, as are binoculars and your favorite guidebook. As an added bonus, we’ll enjoy hot chocolate by the Great Hall fireplace after each hike.
