Spring Equinox Hike
Sunday, March 20, 2022 | 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
$15.00 – $20.00Discover the harbingers of spring with Senior Ecologist Don Quintenz. Every year as spring arrives, animals and plants are signaled to start a new year. Learn the science of why the temperature goes up and the days get longer, and why we call this time the equinox. We’ll search for the life stirrings that are traditionally witnessed at this time, including early blooming flowers, and the rousing of the winter hibernators, like skunks and raccoons that leave their evidence in the soft ground. The Lake Michigan shore may also display the arrival of thousands of ducks resting and refueling on their journey north to breeding grounds.
This program will take place entirely outdoors. Please read our current mask policy before participation.
