Discover how to experience our Lake Michigan shoreline with a sensory approach to improve physical and mental wellbeing. Shinrin Yoku is a Japanese meditative form of nature therapy that has been scientifically shown to benefit mental and physical health. The term translates to “taking in the forest atmosphere.”
Also known as “forest bathing,” Shinrin Yoku involves more than just hiking from point A to point B. For this program, we will be practicing Shinrin Yoku with Lake Michigan as our guide. We will experience the shoreline habitat in a way we never have before. After a forest bathing session, we will conclude the program with a time of reflection, discussion, and tea sampling. Participants will take home skills to continue their own healing through nature, anywhere they go.
