Secondary Homeschool Fall
Thursday, September 8, 2022 | 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
$75.00 – $288.00Thursdays | September 8, October 13, and November 10
Our Secondary Homeschool Program is an immersive experience for children ages 12-14. Led by experienced naturalists, these older students will explore the outer reaches of our Center’s land and engage at a deeper level in topics such as geology, ecology, and conservation.
September 8, 2022 | Prairie Pollinators
Historically prairies covered most of Southeastern Wisconsin. Learners will find out what defines a prairie and how this fragile ecosystem could not exist without its busy pollinators. We will learn to identify plants and net insects on our quest to find pollinators in the prairie.
October 13, 2022 | Deciduous Forests
Witness the dazzling colors of fall, as seen in deciduous trees. We will discuss the various forest food chains that can be found here and venture out in search of them. While exploring, learners will identify trees by their leaves and other distinctive characteristics, as well as how to age a tree without cutting it down.
November 10, 2022 | Raptors in the Sky
Are all raptors birds of prey? Are all birds of prey raptors? We will answer these questions and more with a visit from our raptor ambassadors. Learners will get a “hawk’s eye view” from our 60-foot observation tower, play trail games that emphasize raptor characteristics, and do a feather study to learn about flight.
REGISTRATION DETAILS
A completed student profile, which includes a health history and emergency care plan, is required for each participant prior to registration. We require a new student profile prior to each school year.
