Scuppernong Springs in Kettle Moraine Hike

Wednesday, September 20, 2023 | 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$45.00 – $60.00

, ,

Join Director of Education Tom Finley on a visit to the very unique landscape of the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest at Scuppernong Springs. Located on Hwy. ZZ in southwestern Waukesha County just outside of Eagle, this lowland region features a water table near the surface which results in many bubbling springs. There are interpretive trails throughout and an interesting history of Native American and European settlement.

With over 22,000 acres of protected land, the Southern Kettle Moraine offers a stunning array of forested hills, rolling fields and beautiful kettle lakes: all the gifts of the glacier.

After our morning trek along the Scuppernong Springs Nature Trail, we’ll head over to the forest headquarters building on Highway 59 to enjoy a hike on the undulating rocky trails the region is so well known for. Expect to hike 3 – 4 miles in all, over sometimes rugged terrain.

Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and water. Toilets are available at several park locations, but not at Scuppernong itself. Further details and directions will be emailed to registered participants the week prior to the trip.

Members: $45 | Non-Members: $60
