Enjoy a night out on a hike to explore the different habitats at the Center in search of summer wildlife after sunset. We will visit some ponds to listen for frog calls and look for adult frogs and tadpoles. Then we will hike to the prairie to view the displays of fireflies and witness their various flash patterns. We will search for bats all along the way with an echolocator and learn why these nocturnal mammals are an important part of the ecosystem. Bring a flashlight or headlamp. We will meet outside by the main walkway leading towards the building.
This program will take place entirely outdoors. We will practice social distancing when we are able to, but because of the nature of small-group programming, it will not always be possible. For the health and safety of all, participants must wear a mask when you are within six feet of others. Please do not attend if you are sick or believe you have been exposed to the virus.
