Lion’s Den Birding Trip
Thursday, June 2, 2022 | 8:00 am - 10:00 am$25.00 – $30.00
Senior Ecologist Don Quintenz and Adult Coordinator Michelle Allison will lead you through Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve, one of the last stretches of undeveloped bluff land along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Over a half mile of 90- to 100-foot bluffs look out onto Lake Michigan, offering tremendous viewing opportunities. Being situated on the Lake Michigan shoreline, birds concentrate here during migration. Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve is also adjacent to a 44-acre wetland complex owned by United States Fish and Wildlife Service for enhancing populations of migratory birds and other wildlife. Stroll across bridges over the gorge and boardwalks through wetlands, or travel down the gorge stairways to walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
The field trip begins and ends at the Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve. In order to maintain social distancing, you will need to provide your own transportation to and from Lion’s Den. Further details and directions will be emailed to registered participants prior to the trip.
This program will take place entirely outdoors. Please read our current mask policy before participation.
