Kohler Andrae State Park Field Trip
Monday, June 7, 2021 | 10:00 am - 2:00 pm$45.00 – $60.00
Just 40 minutes north of the Center lies one of the most unique natural areas in the state. Kohler-Andrae is the home of majestic sand dunes, miles of golden beach, shimmering blue Lake Michigan water, whispering pines, and an abundance of wildlife. It is one of the last natural preserves along the Lake Michigan shore. An extensive wooden cordwalk (a boardwalk connected by cords) with overlooks at several points provides hiking opportunities through this sensitive ecosystem. Explore this unique ecosystem with trip leaders Don Quintenz and Michelle Allison. You must be able to walk on cordwalk, for half a mile, with occasional short forays on loose sand.
The field trip begins and ends at Kohler-Andrae State Park. In order to maintain social distancing, you will need to provide your own transportation to and from Kohler-Andrae. A vehicle admission sticker is required. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission
Please bring your own lunch or snacks. Further details and directions will be emailed to registered participants prior to the trip.
This program will take place entirely outdoors. We will practice social distancing when we are able to, but because of the nature of small-group programming, it will not always be possible. For the health and safety of all, participants must wear a mask when you are within six feet of others. Please do not attend if you are sick or believe you have been exposed to the virus. See our latest COVID-19 updates here.
