$17.00 – $23.00During winter, Lake Michigan’s shorelines are abundant with waterfowl of all shapes and sizes. Many of these are ducks from far north in Canada who descend deep into the “south” to spend winter here. In this program, you will learn which ducks are here, plus other visiting birds, and understand their unique attributes for winter survival. Naturalist Laine Cotteleer will begin this program with a presentation on identifying Wisconsin’s winter ducks, including a display of taxidermized duck mounts for up-close and personal observation. Then, she’ll guide everyone down the bluff to the shores of Lake Michigan. You’ll search the beach, with your own binoculars or using our spotting scope as needed, to witness the wonderful winter ducks of Wisconsin while observing their migratory behaviors.
Laine has a passion for birds of all types and especially Wisconsin’s winter waterfowl. She began to identify them as student at the University of Wisconsin and now brings her skills to Schlitz Audubon.
