Do you want to learn more about the rocks you find along our Lake Michigan beach or what created the large ravines on our property? Both questions can be answered through the study of geology! On this hike we will guide you in a hands-on approach to learning the geology basics. Together we will learn how to identify common rock types along Lake Michigan, take soil samples to understand the importance of erosion prevention, identify fossils dating back 450 million years, and discover the amazing rocks and soils that make up our section of the world!
This program will take place entirely outdoors. We will practice social distancing when we are able to, but because of the nature of small-group programming, it will not always be possible. For the health and safety of all, participants must wear a mask when you are within six feet of others. Please do not attend if you are sick or believe you have been exposed to the virus.
