Field Days | 4th-5th Grade

Wednesday, October 21, 2020 | 9:00 am - 11:30 am

$25 – $35
Field Days

Field Days is an all outdoors seasonal series hosted by our Naturalists, intended for students enrolled in 4th-5th grades. We’ll investigate this ephemeral time of year as the Autumnal Equinox brings us closer to the Winter Solstice. This full immersion, seasonal exploration will take us deeper into the forest, pond, field, and, of course, the beach! Our treetop classroom (aka Tower) offers us a birds-eye view of the forest and the Great Lake below. Hiking the shoreline of Lake Michigan, we will search for ancient rocks and fossils before they are covered with ice and snow. In the field, we’ll net for the insects and arthropods that will soon be silenced by snow. At the pond, we will carefully search for reptiles and amphibians in the wetlands before they slip into hibernation. Our studies will be based on popular school field trip programs including Lake Michigan, Plant World, and Aquatic Comparisons, with emphasis being placed on full immersion outdoor education, experiential learning, and deepening our personal connection with the natural world.

No two field days will be alike, so sign up for one or multiple sessions and experience the wonder of fall with our naturalists! (Please only select one session per day.)

Members: $25 | Non-members $35

A completed student profile, which includes a health history and emergency care plan, is required for each participant prior to registration. The Student Profile only needs to be filled out once for any programming during the 2020/2021 school year.

A maximum of 15 students will be enrolled in each Field Days age group.
