We’re pleased to participate in Historic Milwaukee’s Doors Open.
The Dorothy K. Vallier Environmental Learning Center, designed by The Kubala Washatko Architects and built in 2003, is the portal to our 185-acres of varied habitats. Features of our Gold LEED-certified building include extensive use of natural light with window systems that supply 10-20% of our building’s electricity. The building includes classrooms for Nature Preschool through adult education.
Fifteen-minute building tours will take place 10 am – 12 pm, or explore on your own throughout the day. Other drop-in activities include Naturalist Guided Hike at 11 am and 2:00. Live animal encounters between 10 am – 3 pm and meet and greet with birds from our Raptor Program between 12 pm – 2 pm. Or hike the trails – including climbing our 60-foot observation tour – anytime throughout the day. Trails include a one-mile loop of wheel-chair friendly trails.
Our Nature Preschool will also offer tours throughout the day for prospective families.
