Join us for a lively discussion of books related to nature, conservation, and the environment. Our first selection is The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. While the Center is temporarily closed, we will discuss this book in our Schlitz Audubon Nature Book Club Facebook Group. The group is open to join now, and we will post questions beginning on Wednesday, April 15 through Wednesday, May 13.
Wohlleben is a forester and author who makes the case that the forest is more than a collection of trees, it is a social network. He uses ground-breaking scientific research to show how families of trees communicate, take care of their offspring, share nutrients with them, care for those that are sick, and warn them of impending danger. In addition to these breakthroughs about trees, Wohlleben also shares his love of the forest through his writing. Please read the book in advance of the discussion.
